Local Food Networks

The concept of "GrowLots" was developed in an intense, five-week project, where I co-led a team of eight students in a collaborative effort to design a cohesive plan to transform vacant lots into productive community Farm Centers. My team and I identified four key areas the Farm Centers could impact: local food production, green job development, community development, and education. Farm Centers, unlike vacant lots, would improve food accessibility and healthy living throughout the city, by creating partnerships with schools, businesses and local restaurants.
